Planning Ancillary Products... Inspiration

It is hard for us to find covers to be inspired by in terms of genre because we have never actually stereotyped our artist into one particular genre. The mainly problem I've personally experienced with that was how we found similar artists such as 'Burial' yet our artist is way more elegant and hard to fit into a stereotype. We tried to combine our artist with bold imagery right from the beginning because of the 'dub-step' side of the music however even in the video we were advised to remove shots that had bold text because it seemed almost 'comical' in terms of our artist's image. I have mainly found a link between our artist with Ellie Goulding. The reason being is that whilst they may not share a genre this cover looked beautiful to me because of it's simplicity. Having the artist on the front cover is an important aspect for our artist to be viewed and acknowledged by the listener. Whilst the name of the artist and album are fairly small, they are still outstanding on the cover because of the glowing text. The text and the graphic work interlink which is what makes it all seem like it flows. Another reason I think this interlinks with my artist and can be a potential influence is the fact that the graphics look like sound waves which I think is what will unlock that idea of dub-step and link it with this other side of her style of I suppose typical r&b/pop.
