Creating My Ancillary Work: Unsure?

During the making of my Digipak I became unsure about the use of the blue colour scheme, so I quickly made another digipak with the same images however changing to just simply being black and white, it is also the colour scheme my group have used. After suggestion from Rebecca she said that the blue theme was better so I have decided to use it as my final digipak and advert.

I used this programme to help edit some of the pictures used in my Digipak. By using the retouch tool and adjusting the saturation, contrast and exposure I managed to make our artist look more flawless (even though she already does.) And also converting the pictures to black and white to resemble our video made the pictures look even better.

Creating my Ancillary Work: Progression of my Advert

I have begun by using a great picture of the artist, as it is a simple picture that is very effective and speaks for itself. In the corner I have added the picture of the album cover, however I might remove this as it does not seem to add anything to the image and may look slightly awkward. I have replicated the use of the font so the advert and the digipak remain consistent.

I have started adding "reviews" to try and make it look like a professional advert and also recurring the blue colour scheme. However I may remove the bar to make the advert look more realistic. I also need to add stars and other information it is a long way from finished.

Edit of ADVERT changes..

 

Orginally I was going to use this photo but the text proved hard to read against the trees in the background therefore I had to find a plainer image.  So I looked at some of the photos and researched a few other artists today to try and make my advert look as professional as possible.

I found Rhianna's Loud advert quite effective as the colour instantly drew attention to itself yet it was so simplistic! This then sparked inspiartation for my own piece below:

I loved this image as I thought it was eye catching and its as though she is looking straight at you which would instatly draw consumers attention. Also the contrast in colour and edit makes the photo look even more professional! I used many tools on photoshop in order to keep the high standard of quality in the photos. Such as, Ive masted how to place images in to a certain scale, how to edit text and place it accordingly with the Text tool on photoshop. Furthermore, I've learnt how to further my skills in editing through much practise as I have been quite indecisive but go there in the end.

Ancilary: Digipack editing..

During editing my digipack, I had to change a few things as my original package wasnt saved correctly. However, in starting again it gave me more time to change a few aspects from the original. Such as, I decided to change the font and instead use a font called Imprint as I found it looked much more interesting than the previous. 

I also began starting on my inside cover (see above). I decided to flip the image so that the veiw of the boats was on the cd housing. I did this in order to have the cd blend into the image as I have seen a few of these in other digipacks when researching. I think its effective as it shows a contrast from the outside but still keeps the colour scheme.

I still have a few more bits a bobs to tweak but its coming along nicely!

Creating my Ancillary Work: Progression of Digipak

This is my first attempt at figuring out how to use this beast that is photoshop, so I begin by experimenting with layering and using different pictures and seeing which ones will work best with my digipak and if this effect works at all. I have also laid down the track list as a rough guide as to what i want it to look like. I also place down the logos as this is the easiest part. 

I have chosen this to be the front image of the album cover, because it is a close up of the artist and it establishes her very well. Also at this point I was going for the simple black and white colour scheme. The font I have used for the title is Levibrush which i plan to remain consistent throughout. There is a strikethrough in the album name which i might change.

In my mock up I wanted to have blue in the colour scheme also. And therefore I learnt how to enhance the blue eye colour and to use the colour throughout, which is why i colourized the back panel too and used a lovely image of the artist. Although I do think it is a bit too much and too bright, so after suggestion from Dan i went back to black and white and changed the font colour to blue. 

This is the first plan of my inside panels, I have realised that perhaps I have used too many pictures of the artist, and the CD housing covers the artists face also. This is something I will change and perhaps add a quote from the artist.
